In the 1970s, this would have felt radical. It still does. A hillside village climbs up the wall in warm terracotta, sand and dusty teal, with pink steps drawing the eye from floor to ceiling.

Put it up and the room feels like late afternoon on holiday. The colours are warm but not loud, so the room still feels calm just a bit more sunlit than before.

It works best on a tall, quiet wall. Hallways, the run beside a staircase, a bedroom corner, or above a low sideboard in a living room. The vertical pull does a lot of the work, so don’t crowd it.

Pair with linen, rattan, pale oak, terracotta pots and one trailing plant.
