Think of it as folk art with less reverence and better instincts. The dog sits dead centre, calm as anything, while rust, cream, soft pink and dusty blue flowers crowd in around him on a very dark green ground. Put it up and a flat, quiet wall suddenly has a focal point and a bit of humour. It earns its place above a sideboard, on a hallway wall, or on a chimney breast where people walk past and stop.
