We like an abstract best when it comes with a little abrasion. This one looks soft from across the room, but the brushwork is dragged and scraped, so the bright pink and teal keep a bit of grit. Put it up and a flat, quiet wall suddenly has a colour source. Cool blues stop the room feeling chilly, and the peach corner warms it back up. It works above a sofa, on a bedroom wall, or on a narrow stretch beside a desk where you see it all day. Pair it with pale linen, light wood, chrome and plain white ceramics. Don’t crowd it with patterned wallpaper or several other colourful pieces it needs clear wall either side. On paper the brushmarks read crisply, with the soft edges staying soft.
