Put it where people slow down: a study wall, a reading corner, the turn of a hallway, or above a low sideboard. It sits happily with aged leather, wool throws, stoneware and dark timber, and it likes a chalky off-white or soft grey wall behind it. Keep the surrounding shelf simple books, a lamp, one plant. What it won’t take is competition: skip busy patterned wallpaper or a second painterly still life at the same size right beside it. On paper the loose brushwork keeps its softer, quieter edge.
