There’s a reason painters kept returning to loose, bright abstracts; rooms still respond. This one puts bright blue over soft pink and lets red, yellow and green break across the middle. Hang it in a plain room and the whole wall picks up energy you stop noticing the empty corners and start noticing colour. It works above a sideboard, a bed or a desk, and it holds a small landing or box room on its own. Keep everything around it calm: plain linen, white ceramics, pale or painted wood, one solid-colour rug. What not to do is crowd it with patterned cushions, busy wallpaper or a second bright artwork on the same wall the marks need space to land. As a canvas the brushed bands read softer and more painterly up close.
