What it adds isn’t clutter. It’s circular tension in the right places. Big translucent discs in teal, olive, deep red, mustard, coral and dusty pink sit over a dark brown ground, tied together by one looping pale yellow line. Hang it on a wall that has gone flat and the whole corner of the room warms up the dark background reads almost as a shadow, so the colour does the talking. It works above a sofa, a sideboard or a desk, and it holds its own in a hallway. Pair it with dark timber, tan leather, brass and warm stoneware. Don’t crowd it with other loud patterns; give it clear wall and let the circles breathe. As a canvas the dark ground goes softer and more textile-like on the wall.
