Hang this where the side-light hits and the soft grey-blue sharpens. A small bird study like this works hardest on a wall you pass slowly, not one you glance at from across the room. Put it up and the wall gets quieter and more considered most of the sheet is warm off-white, so it reads as breathing space with one sharp point of interest. Good above a writing desk, in a narrow hallway, or on the wall beside a bed where you see it close up. Pair it with painted walls, worn leather, linen and older brown timber. Don’t crowd it with bright graphic posters or big blocks of colour; they flatten the fine detail and steal the stillness. As a canvas the warm paper tone carries softly right to the edge.
