Hang it above a bed, a chest of drawers or at the turn of a hallway, where you pass it close up and can see the chalky pencil texture. It works with linen bedding, cane and rattan, warm timber and cream or clay painted walls. Don’t crowd it with loud graphic prints or cool grey-blue pieces the warmth flattens straight away. As canvas the warm brown background reads deeper and softer, with no shine to fight the light.
