In the 1970s, this would have felt radical. It still does. A wall that had nothing going on suddenly runs the room, and everything nearby borrows a bit of the yellow. It gives a plain kids’ room or a dull stretch of hallway a proper focal point without needing new furniture. Hang it above a low bookcase, a small desk or a chest of drawers, where a child can stand close and pick out every fern, egg and toothy grin. Keep the things around it simple: painted wood, plain bedding, one or two solid colours picked from the print. Don’t crowd it with more patterned bunting, letter garlands or busy wallpaper it needs plain wall on either side to land. As a canvas the edges wrap clean, with no glazing to catch glare in a bright room.
