Too much beige. Not enough mustard yellow. This fixes that. The warm background does the heavy lifting here, so a flat neutral wall suddenly has a temperature to it. The orange berries and navy dots give a room a small, cheerful focal point without shouting. Hang it at eye level in a hallway, above a kitchen counter, or over a low sideboard where you pass it several times a day. It sits happily with pale wood, woven baskets, linen and simple stoneware, and it holds its own against clay or soft green walls. Keep the wall around it fairly clear busy patterned wallpaper or a cluster of tiny frames will fight the flat shapes and dotted texture. As a canvas the mustard reads softer and more matt, with no glare from a window.
