Against plaster, the soft grey reads less sweet, more deliberate. The cow’s fringe and wide horns give a room something to look at without adding a single new colour. Hang it above a sofa, a sideboard or along a hallway where the wall is bare and slightly too quiet. Keep the wall pale so the dark horns and nose do the work. It sits happily with aged leather, wool throws, stoneware and dark timber, and it stops a very tidy modern room feeling cold. Don’t crowd it with busy patterned pieces or fussy small frames on the same wall this one wants breathing room either side. On fine-art paper the grey tones stay crisp and the pale background reads clean.
