Try it above the chest of drawers; the loose brushwork will do the editing. Most of the paper is left off-white, so the wall keeps its air while the bird pulls your eye to one warm spot of orange and teal. It lifts quiet rooms without shouting, and it reads well from a metre or two away. Hang it above a low chest, a bedside table or a small desk, roughly at eye level. Pair it with pale wood, rattan, linen and cream stoneware, plus a plant or two. Don’t crowd it with heavy patterned wallpaper or busy framed photos the white space is what makes the colour work. On paper the soft washes and fine splatter stay crisp and delicate.
