Watch the studio interior land, then the mustard yellow start doing damage. That table cloth pulls warmth out of everything near it leather, dark wood, worn rugs and the room reads richer within a day. Hang it at eye level above a writing desk, a sideboard or in a hallway where people slow down. It likes chalky off-white or deep green walls best. Pair it with linen, aged leather, stoneware and a little brass. Keep the surface underneath fairly clear so the brushwork has room to breathe. What it won’t take is competition: skip a busy patterned wallpaper directly behind it, and don’t crowd it with bright modern graphics. As a canvas the warm browns sit back a little and the whole scene feels softer.
