Each 30 ml glass bottle has a square shape with a groove on top that can be used as a pen rest. These bottles are known as D bottles, which refers to the old French unit of measure la Demi Courtine. The names of each colour were inspired by French culture.

The companys history can be traced back to a French sailor named Jacques Herbin, who drew on the techniques and innovations found on his voyages to establish himself as a master wax maker, later expanding into the production of ink and fine stationery.
