Watch the botanical study land, then the black ink start doing damage. One flower, two leaves, a thorny stem and suddenly the wall has a focal point it did not have five minutes ago. The warm cream ground keeps the room soft while the ink gives it a clean, deliberate edge. Hang it at eye level in a bedroom, study or hallway, or above a low sideboard where there is breathing room either side. Pale oak, dark wood, linen and plain stoneware all sit happily with it. Keep the wall around it quiet busy wallpaper or a crowd of small frames will flatten the effect it works so hard for. On fine-art paper the soft ink washes and dry-brush marks stay crisp and paper-like.
