Rooms go quieter when yellow is this sure of itself. The lemons carry all the brightness, so the rest of the room can stay plain and still feel finished. Hang it where you already spend time in the morning: a kitchen wall by the kettle, above a dining sideboard, or at the top of a narrow stairway where the eye needs somewhere to travel. It sits happily with warm wood, cream linen, glazed stoneware and terracotta pots. Keep the wall behind it simple chalky off-white or a soft olive both work. Avoid crowding it with heavy patterned wallpaper or busy tile splashbacks, and don’t hang it in a cold grey corner where the yellow has nothing warm to answer to.
