Some abstract prints match a room. This one resets its pecking order. The circles are painted quickly and left a little rough, so the colour does the talking rather than any tidy edge. Put it up and the cream and white parts of a room stop reading as empty; the yellow and orange pull warmth into corners that usually sit flat. It works above a sideboard, in a bright hallway, or on a kids’ room wall where a bit of noise is welcome. Keep the furnishings plain: pale wood, cream fabric, one solid colour in a cushion or rug. Don’t hang it next to busy patterned wallpaper or another strong multicoloured piece, because both will fight and neither will win.
