Even the plaster in here starts looking expensive next to bright pink. That is what happens when a room this quiet gets one loud thing to react to. Skirting looks crisper, a plain sofa looks deliberate, and the whole wall stops being background. Hang it where people arrive or sit down: above a low sideboard, at the end of a hallway, or on a bedroom wall opposite the window so morning light hits it. Keep the furniture plain and the textiles calm white walls, pale wood, simple ceramics, a soft grey rug. What not to do: don’t crowd it with patterned wallpaper or other bright abstracts. It needs a bit of empty wall either side to land properly. On canvas the thick paint marks read almost like the real thing.
