With a soft Paris cityscape, scale decides whether the living room wakes up. Go too small and it reads as a postcard; give it proper size and the whole wall settles into something warmer and quieter. The cream and beige tones bounce light around, so a flat magnolia or greige wall stops looking blank and starts looking considered. Hang it above a sofa, a console or a low sideboard, with the horizon roughly at eye level. Pair it with linen, pale timber, aged leather and warm metal fittings. Keep the shelf below it sparse one lamp, one bowl, nothing more. Avoid crowding it with high-contrast graphic pieces; they flatten the soft brushwork and steal the depth out of the street.
