Leave the hallway wall blank if you like cautious rooms. This one does the opposite: two cranes lift across a wall of deep red and olive green, and the whole corridor warms up in one go. Hang it at eye level in a hallway, above a desk in a study, or on the empty stretch beside a bedroom door. It sits happily with dark stained wood, aged leather, rattan and stoneware in clay tones, and it carries a warm off-white or deep green wall with no help.
