Most animal prints behave. This one picks a side. Six Highland cows stand in rows, each one wearing a different pattern in blue, orange and soft pink on a pale pink background. Put it up and a plain wall stops being background. It gives a kitchen, hallway or kids’ room a bit of humour without shouting, and the pink base keeps the whole thing soft rather than loud. Hang it at eye level on a light wall, or above a sideboard, bench or chest of drawers. Pair it with painted cabinetry, pale wood, cane, and cream or blue stoneware. Don’t crowd it with other busy patterned pieces it wants a bit of clear wall either side. On canvas the edges soften slightly and it reads warmer across the room.
