Somewhere between Japanese woodblock printing and modern botanical illustration, this peacock study refuses to behave. The birds sit still, but the deep blue and long teal tail feathers keep pulling your eye back across the room. Hang it where a wall has gone quiet: above a sideboard, between two windows, or over a low bench in a hallway. It gives a soft, warm-cream room a proper focal point without shouting. Pair it with pale or mid-toned wood, cane, oatmeal linen and a couple of indigo or stoneware pieces on the shelf below. Keep the wall around it fairly clear busy patterned wallpaper or a row of small mismatched frames will fight the wisteria and flatten the whole thing. As a canvas it reads softer and more painted, with no glare from side light.
