Put it up and a flat, polite wall suddenly has a focal point, which means you can stop hunting for other things to hang there. It works above a sofa, at the end of a hallway, in a dining room or over a chest of drawers in a child’s room. Pair it with deep green or pink upholstery, cane, warm wood and plain off-white walls. Don’t crowd it with other busy florals or a tight grid of small pictures. On paper the brush marks and the pale background stay crisp.
