Not because it’s orange, but because it refuses to fade back. This is a puffin drawn in flat blocks with a grainy, printed texture black hood, cream face, one blue background panel and a beak that does all the talking. Put it up and a plain wall suddenly has a focal point; the room reads more confident and a little more fun. It works at eye level in a hallway, above a kitchen counter or over a chest of drawers in a child’s room. Keep the company simple: pale wood, painted furniture, off-white or navy walls, a few stoneware pieces. Don’t crowd it with other loud colour or fussy florals it wants a bit of quiet either side. On fine-art paper the grain and flat colour stay crisp.
