Against linen, the dark brown reads less sweet, more deliberate. The bird is drawn with real care, but the huge amount of empty cream around it is what does the work on a wall. Hang it and a busy corner gets quieter the eye settles, and the room feels a little older and more considered. It works at eye level in a hallway, above a writing desk, or on a narrow stretch of wall between windows. Pair it with aged leather, wool, brass fittings and chalky off-white paint. Don’t crowd it with loud colour prints or glossy graphic posters; the pale background needs breathing room to read properly. On fine-art paper the fine engraved lines and soft feather shading stay crisp.
