We like cityscapes best when they come with a little abrasion. This one has it the colours are soft but confident, the buildings lean in, and the umbrella pines do the heavy lifting overhead.

Up on the wall, it warms the room without shouting. The pinks and yellows lift cooler neutrals; the deep brown trunks and dark shutters give the eye something to settle on. A room that felt a bit flat starts to feel like it has a window onto somewhere sunnier.

What not to do: don’t hang it next to another loud cityscape or a strong floral. It wants room to breathe. Choose unframed, or framed in real wood with premium acrylic glazing.
