At 4pm, the running dog turns from nice idea to main character. The low afternoon light catches the warm cream ground and the fine black linework sharpens up, and suddenly a quiet stretch of wall has something going on. It brings movement to a still room without adding colour, so it settles rather than shouts. Hang it along a hallway, above a low bookshelf, or on a study wall where you pass it often. Pair it with dark wood, aged leather, wool checks and stoneware, and keep the wall colour warm off-white or a soft muted green. Don’t crowd it with busy pattern or bright modern graphics either side, and don’t hang it too high the running line needs to read at eye level. On fine-art paper the ink lines stay crisp and the cream ground reads as paper, not as colour.
