This is a hand-drawn aerial view of San Siro in Milan, done in washed off-white, grey and soft green, with the pitch and the red roof frame as the only real colour. Put it up and a flat wall suddenly has a focal point with real detail in it people walk over to read the ramps, the running track and the streets around the ground. It works above a desk, along a hallway, or over a sideboard in a snug. Pair it with dark wood, leather, wool and simple metal lighting. Don’t crowd it with club badges, scarves or novelty signage; it holds a room far better on its own terms. As a canvas it reads a little softer, with a painted edge to the washes.
