Watch the falcon land, then the rust brown start doing damage. It is a small amount of colour on a big field of off-white, and it pulls warmth out of everything nearby. Put it on a plain wall in a study, hallway or bedroom where the eye has nowhere else to go, roughly at eye level and a little higher than you think. It works with dark wood, aged leather, linen and brass door handles, and it behaves beautifully against chalky off-white or a soft grey-green. What it will not tolerate is competition: skip loud pattern on the same wall, and keep bright modern graphics a room away. On canvas the edges soften and it settles in as a quieter, more furnished object.
