At 4pm, the abstract turns from nice idea to main character. Late light hits the mustard background and the whole wall warms up. A plain room stops feeling unfinished: the stacked blocks give it a focal point, and the orange, lilac and teal do the work that a bright cushion or rug never quite manages. Hang it on a narrow wall, above a low sideboard, or on a study wall behind a desk. Around it, keep things simple and solid walnut or dark timber, tan leather, boucl, a stoneware pot or two. Skip patterned wallpaper, busy textiles and other loud prints on the same wall; this piece wants space to be the noisy one. As a canvas the painted surface softens the edges slightly and the colour looks matt on the wall.
