Before anyone mentions Japanese woodblock, notice what the bright red does to walnut. Warm wood suddenly looks richer, and cream walls read as a deliberate backdrop rather than a blank. This is a room-leader. Put it up and the colour scheme resolves around it: charcoal seating looks intentional, dark timber looks warmer, and grey stops looking flat. Hang it above a sofa, a sideboard or on a stair landing where you can stand back and see the full height of the trees. Pair it with plain textiles, stoneware and one deep teal or rust accent picked out of the sky. Don’t crowd it with other strong colour, and skip busy pattern on the same wall.
