At mid-morning, the pattern patchwork turns from nice idea to main character. The teal blocks and coral stripes catch the light first, and the cream between them keeps the whole thing from shouting. Hang it where a room needs a lift: a kitchen wall by the kettle, a hallway that gets walked past twenty times a day, a living room with a plain sofa. It sits happily with painted cabinetry, cane furniture, warm timber and striped cushions. Keep the wall around it plain, and resist hanging it next to bold wallpaper or another heavily patterned piece two competing patterns cancel each other out. As a canvas the matt surface softens the brightest coral slightly.
