Think of it as Matisse with less reverence and better instincts. A green-eyed tabby holds court on a painterly orange and pink sofa, with mint walls, a tall cactus and patterned cushions doing the rest. The room gets louder in the best way colour everywhere, but tied together by the cat in the middle. Hang it in a living room that already leans bright and brave, or one that needs permission to. Works above a low sofa, a console or a reading chair, ideally on a wall that can take a confident block of colour. Pair it with painted wood, rattan, woven textiles and clashing pinks and oranges. Don’t bury it next to muted neutrals or formal traditional art it will sulk. The canvas edge keeps the painterly feel without competing with the colour.
