Against brass, the deep teal reads less sweet, more deliberate. The whole surface is drawn line by line, so from across the room it looks like moving water, and up close it turns into feathers and leaves. Hang it where people slow down: a bedroom wall above the headboard, a study behind a desk, or a windowless hallway that needs depth rather than more light. It sits happily with dark wood, velvet, brass and cream stoneware, and it gives a plain off-white wall something to do. Don’t crowd it with other patterned pieces or busy wallpaper the drawing needs clear wall either side to read properly. As a canvas the colour looks soft and matt, with no reflections.
