From the doorway, the hard-edged curves read clean. Up close, not polite. The black shape has real weight, and the brushwork in the sand-coloured background stops it feeling flat or printed. Hang it wide and low over a sofa, sideboard or bed, where the sweep of the curve has room either side to breathe. It sits happily with linen, boucl, dark wood and pale plaster walls, and it gives a quiet room a proper focal point without adding colour.
