Call it calm if you want; we call it better walls. A soft blue sky with a single white dove, and suddenly the room has somewhere to look. The blue cools a bright room and warms up a dull one, and because the tones sit close together nothing shouts. Hang it above a bed, along a hallway, between two windows or above a low chest of drawers. It sits happily with linen bedding, pale wood, painted off-white joinery and milky ceramics. Skip the busy patterned wallpaper next to it, and avoid crowding it with heavy dark frames or strong prints; this one needs a bit of empty wall to breathe. As a canvas, the brushed sky gains a little texture and hangs straight from the box.
