Yes, Mikul Galanda knew how to charm a room and how to cut. A few charcoal lines and a haze of grey do more for a quiet wall than a whole shelf of ornaments. Put it up and the room slows down: bare walls stop feeling unfinished, and cream, grey and pale wood suddenly look deliberate rather than accidental. Hang it above a chest of drawers, beside a bedroom window, or on a narrow stretch of study wall at eye level. Pair it with linen, dark wood and stoneware, and keep the surrounding surfaces clear. What not to do: crowd it with busy patterned pieces or loud colour prints, which flatten the soft shading and turn a calm wall noisy. On fine-art paper the grainy shading stays soft and the line keeps its edge.
