Three things it does fast: ground warm brown, sharpen brass, wake hallway. The cream background keeps the wall feeling light while the bird’s dark tail and speckled chest give the room a firm point to settle on. Hang it at eye level in a hallway, above a small desk, or in a run of two or three along a dining wall. It gets on well with aged leather, dark wood, linen and old brass hooks, and it holds its own against a chalky off-white or soft sage wall. Don’t crowd it with loud colour or big modern graphics; this one wants a little quiet space around it. As a canvas the aged paper tone reads softly, with a slight texture across the cream ground.
